Description
Rare signature for the 3rd generation Owari Nobutaka. Signed Nobuteru, this is a rarely seen signature for the 3rd master of the famous Owari Nobutaka School. He is said to have helped his father greatly (the 2nd master) in making blades, so there are very few with this early mei. He is known to have the same high quality as his father, and it shows in the beautiful grain pattern this blade has to exhibit. The hamon is well done in the style of suguha with nijuba in some areas. The nie is very heavy in places, and kinsuji appears in and out of the hamon. Done in nie deki, one can notice that the quality of the nie is very well done, being bright and healthy. The ji nie is excellent, along with the very well mixed ko-itame hada. This is a very good example of good jigane, and fine chilei appear throughout the ji. Boshi is very healthy and done in their normal style. All in all, a very, very nice blade to own and enjoy. Tang is in very nice condition as well and ubu. Blades from the Owari main Schools are very well thought of by Samurai, as many strong famous warriors came from this province, including the most famous one Tokugawa Iyeyasu. The NBTHK thought enough of this blade to award it Tokubetsu Hozon Status.
